The Graduate Certificate in Education is a non-degree program designed to enhance the professional development of educators and those who do not enter or complete the MA program. It is accredited by the Adventist Accrediting Association (AAA).

Admission Requirements

  1. A baccalaureate degree or the equivalent.
  2. Demonstrated English proficiency.


To complete the program and be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Education, the candidate must satisfactorily meet the following requirements:

  1. Complete 20 semester hours of coursework from the MA program, including 11 hours of foundation courses and 9 hours from a field of emphasis
  2. Complete Service Learning requirement.
  3. Develop and e-portfolio to showcase his/her work in meeting the professional competencies.

LEAD 610 Biblical Foundations of Leadership and Ethics (3 units)
RESM 520 Academic Writing (2 units)
One of the following:
EDCI 625 Instructional Media (3 units)
EDUC 583 Foundation of Christian Curriculum (3 units)
EDUC 624 Faith and Learning in Christian Education (3 units)
Fields of Emphasis 9 units
At least three courses from one of the following areas of emphasis:
  Curriculum and Instruction (EDCI)
  Educational Administration (EDAD)
