The Board of Trustees of Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS) has elected Dr. Obed Jiménez to serve as the eighth president of AIIAS.
Jiménez currently serves as President of Antillean Adventist University in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico in the Inter-American Division.
Jiménez has over 30 years of church service experience of which 21 years are in Adventist higher education institutions and 13 years of higher education administration experience. In higher educational leadership—including vice president for student services and vice president for religious affairs, Jiménez has been known for increasing student enrollment by 22% and building the online enrollment by 40%.
Jiménez is married to Marcia and together they have two grownup children.
After receiving recommendation from the presidential search committee, Jiménez was selected by the board last June 5, 2018. He will succeed Dr. Stephen Guptill who has served as AIIAS president since 2006.
AIIAS is an international graduate-level institution of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventists which offers masters and doctoral degree programs in the areas of business, education, theology, and a Master of Public Health. Located in Silang, Cavite, Philippines, AIIAS has students and faculty from more than 70 countries.
