EDAD 770 Program Evaluation

About the Course

An explanation of and justification for evaluation strategies at both departmental and institutional levels, from the perspective of both the practitioner and the evaluator. The course emphasizes the building of evaluation criteria, self-study, methods of data collection, organization, and analysis, the drawing of inferences, and the framing of recommendations consistent with the mission and philosophy of the institution or program being evaluated.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to:

  • Know the field of evaluation and the differences among assessment, evaluation, and research.
  • Conduct an evaluation-specific working vocabulary.
  • Explain the importance of ethics and integrity when conducting an evaluation.
  • Explain the process of evaluation (prepare, design, conduct, report).
  • Apply various models and approaches to the practice of program evaluation.
  • Describe appropriate design(s), when given an evaluation scenario.
  • Analyze evaluation data.
  • Complete the writing of a formal evaluation report.

JIMMY KIJAI, PhD


DR.JIMMY KIJAI is a professor in the Graduate School of Education at Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS). Originally from Malaysia, he earned his Master of Education in Educational Research from the University of South Carolina, USA, in 1983. He completed his Ph.D. in Educational Research in 1987, further solidifying his expertise in Research and Statistics.
