THST 531 Distinctive Doctrines of the SDA Church

About the Course

A study of doctrines in which the Seventh-day Adventist Church offers relevant contributions to a theological understanding of the Bible, such as the mediatorial ministry of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary, the antitypical significance of the Day of Atonement, the pre-advent investigative phase of the judgment, the Three Angels’ Messages of Revelation 14, the eschatological remnant, the gift of prophecy, the unmasking of spiritualism, and the message of health reform.

  3. Understand the significance of the distinctive doctrines of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the context of the Great Controversy between good and evil.
  4. Build confidence in the Seventh-day Adventist Church as the remnant chosen by God in these last days of the world history.

SURYANICA ARISTAS PASUHUK, PhD


Dr. Suryanica Pasuhuk is a theologian, educator, and pastor who earned his MA in 1998 and PhD in 2010 from AIIAS. He served for over 22 years at Universitas Klabat as a pastor, professor, program director, and dean of the Faculty of Religious Studies. Specializing in systematic theology, he is passionate about teaching Seventh-day Adventist doctrines and mentoring students academically and spiritually. Though transitioning to teaching in English presents new challenges, he trusts in God’s guidance. At heart, he remains a pastor, devoted to house-to-house visitation, prayer, and encouraging church members.

Dr. Kyungho Song is currently serving as the Chair of the Theological-Historical Studies department at AIIAS Theological Seminary. He has been teaching at AIIAS for 22 years as a theology professor. This online course has been developed by himself. Besides this course, he has also developed and taught other online courses, such as Distinctive Doctrines of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and Revelation, Inspiration, and Prophetic Guidance.
