A survey and exposition of the text of Paul’s epistle to the Romans, paying special attention to the contribution this book makes to the understanding of Paul’s theology and its implication for ministry.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to:

  1. Examine the content of the biblical gospel and emphasize the obligation that each believer has to proclaim it.
  2. Show that sin is a reality that affects the totality of human nature.
  3. Show that man is devoid of the justice that God demands and that this justice is only in Christ.
  4. Demonstrate how God justifies the sinner and what the results of that justification are.
  5. Encourage the practice of the benefits of justification.
  6. Exhort to depend on divine help to fight the battle of the Christian life.
  7. Understand the greatness of God’s plan and thank him for his infinite wisdom.
  8. Recognize God’s sovereignty and challenge our submission to him.
  9. Motivate to give glory and praise to God for his wonderful plan of salvation that reaches Jews and Gentiles.
  10. Motivate to live an exemplary life both inside and outside the church.
  11. Encourage them to be obedient and respectful of laws and authorities to give a good testimony for the glory of God.
  12. Encourage them to show love and understanding towards believers weak in faith.
  13. Motivate to serve the Lord and the neighbor with humility and self-denial.
  14. Encourage them to practice friendship and close relationships with other believers and church leaders, both in other communities and in their own.

HECTOR MARTIN-FUENTES, PhD


Dr. Hector Martin Dr. Martín joined the faculty of the AIIAS Theological Seminary as an assistant professor of New Testament Studies. He finished his BA in Theology in Seminario Teológico Adventista, Venezuela, MA Education (Universidad de Montermorelos, Mexico, and PhD (Adventist International Institute for Advanced Studies, Philippines in 2012.


He has published several academic book reviews for JAAS and the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL). He has also been involved as an editor in a variety of book publications and journals. Dr. Héctor Martín was born in Venezuela on July 9, 1956, and is happily married to Bileidis Angélica. The couple is blessed with two sons and two grandsons.
