AIIAS Remembers the Life of Student Solly Tingiia

Pr. Solly Faamoana Tingiia (1966 – 2016), a doctoral seminary student at AIIAS from the Solomon Islands, died on January 5 due to complications from cancer. A funeral service was held on AIIAS campus that evening.

During the funeral, many expressed their favorite memories with Pastor Solly and encouraged the family. His teachers appreciated his academic excellence and his peers appreciated that he was a friendly person who made deep and meaningful friendships.

AIIAS President Dr. Stephen Guptill reflected on Pastor Solly’s life saying, “We not only mourn the passing of a very dear man who was loved and respected throughout our AIIAS community, but we also celebrate a noble life of spiritual leadership, scholarship, of laughter and joy. These are the things we will hold in our hearts as we remember this great man.”

Before coming to AIIAS, Pastor Solly served as a pastor and teacher. He was a faculty member at Adventist College in Fiji.

Pastor Solly is survived by his wife, six children, and four grandchildren.

AIIAS requests your prayers for the family and our community during this difficult time. We look forward to Christ’s second coming when there will be no more pain and death.
