AIIAS Welcomes Dr. Kim Si Young to the Applied Theology Department

AIIAS welcomes Dr. Kim Si Young, who has been called to serve as a faculty member in the Applied Theology Department of the AIIAS Seminary, effective November 2022.

Kim recently retired as the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) president after serving for five years. He has been serving the church for more than 43 years in leadership and ministerial capacities.

Throughout his career, Kim served in Korea as a pastor, hospital chaplain, and Conference and Union youth director. He is not a stranger to the Philippines, as he was the director of the 1000 Missionary Movement, situated a short distance from the AIIAS campus. He also worked as the director of the SDA Language School in Korea, leading that institution in its days of highest enrollment, and as president of the publishing house in Korea. Before being elected as the division president, he served as the Adventist Mission director of NSD. In addition, he has been serving on the AIIAS Board as one of our two supporting division presidents.

Kim hails from South Korea. He earned his Master of Pastoral Studies degree in 1990 and a Doctor of Ministry degree from AIIAS in 2007. He is married to Oh Myoung Sook, who holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Sahmyook University in Korea. She taught middle and high school students and later served as the NSD coordinator for Adventist Volunteer Services. They are blessed with two grown children, Soyeon and Youngwook.

“We are so blessed to have Dr. Kim come and lend his significant experience and broad knowledge to our seminary students for the next few years. His wife, Myoung Sook, will also be taking up part-time duties on our campus,” announces AIIAS president Ginger Ketting-Weller.

Welcome to the AIIAS family, Dr. Kim Si Young and Mrs. Oh Myoung Sook!
