July 23-27, 2023 Hotel Dominique Tagaytay City, Philippines

Overview

What is WLE?

The Women Leading Education Across Continents is a group of women from different parts of the world. Its mission is to inspire women to lead in educating and empowering individuals and communities to bring about positive change.

WHERE WAS WLE HELD IN THE PAST YEARS?

The WLE conferences were held in Rome, Greece, Germany, New Zealand, Brazil, United Kingdom, and Ghana; and participated in by women (and men) who are zealous about studies about women.

FIRST TIME IN ASIA

It will be WLE’s first time to be held in Asia and we are honored to host it here in Tagaytay City, Philippines on July 23-27, 2023 in collaboration with AQRA, AIIAS, AUP, UCEA, LMU, VCU, AHSRA-Asia, and AASA. This is going to be a meaningful scholarly and cultural experience for everyone.

THEME: Diyosang mandirigma (goddess warrior)

The Filipino woman is a blend of beauty and compassion, of strength and courage. Legend has it that once upon a time there was a goddess fondly called Maria Makiling. The Bathala (great god) sent her to attend to the needs of the people. Her beauty was breathtaking, and her compassion was comforting. In the same vein, Philippine history boasts of a woman general, Gabriela Silang. who took over after the assassination of her husband. Bravely leading her troops until her capture and death, she was a key figure in the country’s struggle for independence.
