MSSN 577 Growing Disciples and Mission

About the Course

This course discusses the biblical basis for mission and for the growth of disciples in both the Old and the New Testaments. It illustrates the fact that God grows churches by growing individual disciples in the local congregation. This course will engage students with a discussion of church growth principles and practices on nurturing new as well as growing established members, with the goal of developing disciple-making disciples. The course will include the practical activity of assessing the growth needs of members of selected Adventist congregations, as well as the development of a one-year curriculum for growing disciples in that particular congregation.

  6. Developed study habits that will make the student an effective nurturer, mentor, and mobilizer of disciple-making disciples.

ERMELA T. DIZON, PhD


Dr. Ermela T. Dizon, well known to others as Dr. Maila, has a Doctor of Missiology from Andrews University with a focus on Secularism. She has taught several online mission courses for AIIAS Theological Seminary since 2017, before she became a full-time assistant professor in 2023. Before serving at AIIAS, she worked in the Philippines. Frontier Missions for twenty-six years. She was the Executive Director for nine years in this organization. She is married to Dr. Abner P. Dizon. They have two sons, Jon Nevin and Abe Taylor.

Developer

JAMES PARK, PhD


Dr. James Park is the original developer of this online course. He is an experienced pastor and professor who has been actively engaged in discipleship, church growth, and missions. Before his retirement, he served AIIAS as the director of the Seminary Online Learning Program as well as the director of the Master of Arts in Ministry.
