The Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS) is seeking an individual to serve full-time as the Business Faculty
Responsibility Overview:
The position requires teaching up to seven courses per year in the Business department focusing on Finance, Economics and Accounting at the master’s and doctoral levels (which may include intensive courses at learning centers throughout Asia), advising students working on theses and dissertations, and serving on academic committees. Faculty members are also expected to contribute to their area of specialization at professional conferences and through the publication of books and articles as well as to the wider church community.
Faculty teaching doctoral level are required to hold a doctoral degree, and faculty teaching master level are required to hold at least a Master’s degree. The faculty member is expected to fully meet the role requirements for his/ her academic rank in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. The teaching role includes maintaining a high level of excellence in each aspect of the academic endeavor, as these contribute to meeting the goals and working towards fulfillment of the institutional mission. The faculty member forms a close relationship with students in the department and is sensitive to their needs. The faculty member is a reliable guide for students and a mentor in professional growth.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Teach graduate-level Accounting and Finance courses, including online and at extension learning centers.
- Serve as academic adviser and mentor for masteral and doctoral students.
- Supervise theses and dissertations.
- Engage in academic research and publish in peer-reviewed outlets.
- Participate in institutional service, outreach, and professional development.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean or Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Is a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good standing with a deep interest in service and mission.
- Earned doctoral degree in Business with a Master’s in Accounting.
- Qualified to teach graduate-level Accounting courses.
- Strong personal faith and commitment to Adventist education.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and international academic environment
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Doctorate in Accounting or Finance.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent designation.
- Courses taught at the graduate level may include:
- Advanced Financial Accounting
- Advanced Managerial Accounting
- Auditing and Assurance
- Current Issues and Developments in Accounting
- Accounting Theory.
- Experience teaching in higher education.
- International academic or professional experience.
- Successful research supervision at graduate level (thesis/dissertation).
- Track record of research and peer-reviewed publications.
Required Work Experience: At least 5 years of full-time professional work experience.
Preferred Work Experience:
- Practical experience in the field of accounting.
- University-level teaching and curriculum development.
- International or cross-cultural service.
- Research mentoring and scholarly productivity.
Remuneration:
Remuneration will be according to the denominational wage scale at AIIAS considering educational qualifications, professional experience, and years of service.
