AIIAS has a tradition of each newly appointed professor delivers an inaugural lecture on a topic of their choosing within one year of an appointment. This is a formal event whose primary audience is the academic community. All AIIAS faculty and students are invited to the event that is also open to the public. This tradition allows faculty members to present scholarly activity, research interests, and contributions to the domain of knowledge. It also provides the academic community an opportunity to learn about the scholarly activity and research endeavors and achievements of leading faculty members thereby promoting the AIIAS academic culture.

Professorships are conferred on individuals who are widely recognized as being dedicated to the ideals of excellence in teaching/librarianship/research as well as the ideals of AIIAS and Adventist higher education. This rank indicates a foremost teacher/librarian/scholar of authoritative reputation within a particular field.
