Seminary Welcomes New Assistant Professor

AIIAS is pleased to announce the arrival of a new faculty member who will be serving as an assistant professor of New Testament in the AIIAS Theological Seminary, Dr. Hector Obed Martin Fuentes. He and his family are from Venezuela.

 

Martin received his Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament Studies from AIIAS in 2012. He also has a Master’s degree in Higher Education from Universidad de Montemorelos in 2002. He has most recently served as an assistant professor of New Testament in Seminario Theologico Adventista in Nirgua, Yaracuy State, Venezuela. He previously served as an International Editorial Board Member of the Journal of the Inter-American Adventist Theological Seminary, a coordinator of the Inter-American Adventist Theological Seminary, and as the Seminary dean of Seminario Teologico Adventista in Venezuela.

 

Martin is married to Bileidis Angelica Chirinos de Martin who earned a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from the Adventist University of the Philippines in 2009 and is currently taking her Master of Arts in Counselling degree at Universidad Pedagogica Experimental Libertador, Venezuela. She has most recently served as the ladies dormitory dean in Instituto Universitario Adventista de Venezuela y del Seminario Teologico Adventista de Venezuela (IUNAV/SETAVEN). She also taught some courses at the same university.

 

Together they have two grown children, Mercedes Nohemy, the ladies dormitory dean at the IUNAV/SETAVEN at the West Venezuela Union Mission and Josue Jireh, an accountant at the Venezuelan Merida Mission. They also have two grandsons.
