AIIAS Alumnus, Petronio Genebago, Named as Southern Asia-Pacific Division Youth Director

AIIAS student Petronio M. Genebago has been named by the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) as their new youth director. Genebago will be filling the open position left by Pastor Jobbie Yabut, who succumbed to cancer on December 20, 2019, at the age of 56.

Genebago, a Filipino, is currently a faculty in the College of Theology at the Adventist University of the Philippines. He has served as a district pastor, communication and youth director in the Central Luzon Conference (CLC), and a youth/AMiCUS director in the North Philippine Union Conference.

An alumnus of AIIAS, Genebago completed a Master of Ministry degree in 2013 and a Master of Arts in Religion majoring in Biblical Languages in 2016. He is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Philosophy in Old Testament degree at AIIAS. Genebago has published articles in a number of international magazines, some of which have won recognition and prizes. In 2017 Genebago’s passion for empowering youth led him to establish the SADFREE (Smoking, Alcohol, and Drugs-Free) Movement, Inc. The movement exists to assist youth in stopping harmful lifestyle habits and to embrace healthy living.

“On behalf of the AIIAS community I wish Pastor Genebago and his family God’s rich blessings as he takes on this new leadership role,” says AIIAS President, Ginger Ketting-Weller. “With his training and experience, we expect that his work will contribute strongly to the mission of the church in this region.”

Genebago is married to Jeneva Dalida. They are blessed with two sons, Konstantin Von and Harold Jon.
