AIIAS and Lipa City Colleges (LCC) formally started their first stage of partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the morning of August 10, 2017 at the AIIAS Board Room. The administrators of both institutions witnessed the signing of the agreement.
The signing of the MOU was initiated by the LCC, who showed evident interest to learn and benefit from the qualitative research experience that AIIAS has to offer. For sometime now, AIIAS has impacted the research ideas of LCC.
“AIIAS’ influence has been running in the blood of our faculty up to this day. Even in our issue of research, it has also been very influential,” said Dr. Glecy B. Mojares, president of LCC. “In fact,” she added, “the qualitative research that Dr. Fukofuka [AIIAS former professor] imparted to us during our faculty development program has been very significant.”
Dr. Mojares also expressed that, as the LCC 70th anniversary is coming up, this MOU will be very meaningful to the occasion.“We are very honored of your acceptance and the ‘marriage’ that we are having today will be very significant in our 70th year anniversary.”
LCC is an institution with over 5,000 students. It was established in 1947 with the mission of training men and women for the service of God and the country. LCC prides itself for having one of the best courses in criminology, being ranked top 2 in the Philippines.
According to Dr. Arceli Rosario, AIIAS chair of the Education Department, the MOU will bring research collaboration where the two institutions will contribute with each other. “They will learn from us and we will learn from them,” she stated.
This MOU will allow AIIAS to share their mastery in qualitative research by providing a service to LLC’s faculty and by mentoring their students. “AIIAS continues to look forward to contributing, not only to the church’s needs, but to our community’s needs, to the Filipino’s journey for education” remarked Dr. Stephen Guptill, president of AIIAS.
LCC and AIIAS administrators will be meeting again to finalize the details of the agreement. As for now, AIIAS anticipates working with this institution. “I look forward to getting to know you better over the coming five years and, hopefully, even longer.” noted Dr. Oberholster, AIIAS vice president of academic administration.
This is not the first time that AIIAS is partnering with institutions of higher education. They are still in the planning phase of expanding this kind of work. The partnership with LCC will not be the last one.
