Top Educators Discuss Advances in Theological Education

An international team of ministerial and educational experts convene in AIIAS last week to discuss about an important document that serve as guideline and standards to professional training of institutions offering religious education.

The International Board of Ministerial and Theological Education (IBMTE) Handbook revision task-force aims to revise the handbook of theological education of the Seventh Day Adventist Church worldwide.

“We are happy because AIIAS has always been considered as a place of choice for international meetings such as this,” says AIIAS Seminary Dean, Dr. Richard Sabuin. “Members of this body consists of seminary deans, divisions leaders, and Adventist World church leaders.”

Some of the duties of the IBMTE include establishing a basic series of subject areas and requisite content as well as to develop guidelines and core standards for faculty selection and student entry into programs that will meet the needs of the field and foster the mission of the Church through undergraduate and graduate programs for denominational employees involved in ministerial and religious formation.

“The guests have expressed their satisfaction on the beauty of AIIAS campus and the generosity of students and faculty,” concluded Dr. Sabuin.

Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies is a higher education institute owned and operated by the Adventist World Church headquarters that traces its beginning as a training school for ministerial workers.

The three other venues chosen for these meetings are Andrews University (USA), Avondale College (Australia), and Adventist University of Africa (Kenya).
