Responsibility Overview

The Public Health Faculty member works together with the Department Chair and Graduate School Dean, carrying out regular faculty responsibilities related to teaching, service, research, publications, and administration.

Required Qualification and Skills



  • Have an earned Doctoral Degree in Public Health or closely related field
  • High level of proficiency in written and oral English
  • Be able to work with students and faculty from a variety of cultures and ethnic backgrounds in an international setting on campus, in AIIAS distance learning centers, and online
  • Have a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and be a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church in regular standing
  • Model a healthy lifestyle.

Preferred Qualification and Skills


  • Hold an earned doctorate in Public Health or related field with emphasis in Epidemiology, Environmental Health, or Community Health
  • A strong background in research and publication
  • Skills in delivering online and blended learning curriculum.

Required Work Experience

  • Significant successful teaching experience    

Preferred Work Experience


  • Successful teaching experience at the Master's or Doctoral level for at least 3 years
  • Successful graduate research supervision and mentoring student research
  • A record of academic engagement and publications in epidemiology, or other health research
  • Experience in community health interventions.

Key Responsibilities



  • Carry out regular faculty responsibilities related to teaching, service, research, publications, and administration
  • Teach graduate Public Health courses on-campus, at distance learning centers and online
  • Academic advising of graduate student research including projects, theses and dissertations
  • Active in a range of scholarly activities including a variety of aspects of research: traditional discovery research, integrative, application, and curriculum development studies
  • Active participation in community health development
  • Perform all duties as assigned by the Public Health Department Chair and Graduate School Dean.
